I love radiator heat. Sure, large buildings tend to keep it a bit too warm in the winter, but I find the knocking and hissing on a cold winter night comforting. The look? There are gorgeous vintage units in some buidlings and some that, well, they are not looking their best, but they are a noticeable presence in a room. Radiator covers are fine (although there are some really terrible looking specimens out there), but I've always been a big fan of painting them. By painting them to camouflage or to use them as a design element, your accentuating what could be an aesthetic "white elephant" and making the decor in your home seem even more thoughtful.
